League Preview: Dundalk -v- Galway United
DUNDALK
Relegation candidates Dundalk face a stiff test against Galway United on Friday night at Oriel Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Lilywhites drew 1-1 away to Bohemians last weekend but are now just three points clear of bottom side Drogheda United after the Boynesiders won 2-0 at home against Waterford.
Galway, however, have lost their last four away league games in a row - but Dundalk manager Jon Daly knows his side have a tough task ahead of them
“They ask questions of you defensively and look for cracks and if there are any then they’ll find them because they don’t let up so it’s important that defensively we’re switched on,” he said.
“I feel we have been for large parts of the games but it’s important that we bring that again and then have a little bit more quality on the ball and a bit more belief in possession because I think we can punish them with some of the attacking players that we have in the team.
“We’ve very good players and if we can get them into areas where we can ask questions of them then I think we can hurt them.”
GALWAY UNITED
Galway United will be looking to end a four-game losing streak away from home when they travel to Oriel Park on Friday night.
The Tribesmen have been beaten by Sligo Rovers (2-0), Shelbourne (2-0), Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic (2-1) in their last four away league outings.
But John Caulfield’s men are in a good position in the Premier Division and have European football in their sights.
They have also been boosted by the recent arrival of Ireland international Greg Cunningham to their squad.
