League Preview: Drogheda United -v- Bohemians

DROGHEDA UNITED

Bottom side Drogheda United face an uphill task when they welcome Bohemians to Weavers Park on Friday (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

But Kevin Doherty’s side won last weekend against Waterford, claiming a 2-0 triumph at home.

The Boynesiders are now just three points behind ninth-placed Dundalk and could even close the gap on eighth-placed Bohemians to four points.

However, Drogs have played two more games than Alan Reynolds’ side.

In team news, Zishim Bawa is out for the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery. Aaron McNally, Gary Deegan, Jethren Barr and James Byrne are injured.

BOHEMIANS

Bohs boss Reynolds has called on his club’s supporters to get behind his troops ahead of their trip to Drogheda United.

The Gypsies will be playing in front of a sold-out away end on Friday night and will be keen to build on recent displays against Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk.

“Every time we go away from home, whether it be in Galway or Sligo or anywhere, our fans have been behind us from the first whistle,” Reynolds said.

“In a tight ground like Drogheda’s it will be even more important. It’s a great ground for atmosphere, particularly where the away fans are allocated, and I know our allocation is sold out, so to have our fans there in big numbers and urging the players on can make a massive difference.

“There is frustration with our league form, but I think our supporters recognise what we are trying to do with the team and the players we have added over the past month to help push us on.

“We have shown glimpses of what we are capable of in the past couple of weeks and they have responded to that and have got behind the team. We all want to build on that together now.”

Jordan Flores, Archie Meekison, Jake Carroll, James McManus, Rob Cornwall and Keith Buckley are set to miss out through injury.

Referee: Robert Harvey.
