Experienced Dutch defender Robin Pröpper joins Rangers

Rangers have announced the signing of Robin Pröpper. The experienced  6ft 3in centre-half joins from FC Twente where he was captain last season, making 39 appearances.

Pröpper, 30, began his career with De Graafschap in the Netherlands and has since played for Heracles Almelo before moving to FC Twente in 2021.

His transfer marks the ninth addition by Rangers manager Philippe Clement this window, joining Jefté, Hamza Igamane, Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly, Clinton Nsiala, and Václav Černy.

“Rangers is a big club and it feels really good to be here," Pröpper told RangersTV.

"I always said I wanted a new adventure in another country and when a club like Rangers comes in for you it feels surreal. This club breathes football and you want to play your football here."

Pröpper added that he had spoken to Cyriel Dessers and Václav Černy, who only had positive things to say about the club.

“You hear about the Rangers fans and how it is here and I am really happy to be here,” he said.

Manager Philippe Clement expressed his excitement about the new signing.

“We are thrilled to welcome Robin to Rangers and he will be an excellent addition to our squad. As a defender he is powerful and has great attributes, which include the experience he has gained from his years playing in the Netherlands and the leadership qualities he has shown from being the captain of FC Twente.”
