Crystal Palace sign Ismaïla Sarr from Marseille
Crystal Palace have officially announced the signing of Ismaïla Sarr, making him their third acquisition in this summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old forward previously played for Watford, where he tallied 34 goals and 22 assists over 131 appearances.
His recent stint with Marseille saw him contribute to the team's journey to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last season.
Sarr's professional journey started in France with Metz, later moving to Rennes.
At Rennes, he played a role in their European qualification and helped secure their first Coupe de France in nearly fifty years.
On the international stage, Sarr has earned 64 caps with Senegal, netting 13 goals.
His achievements with the national team include winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
Manager Oliver Glasner highlighted Sarr's familiarity with the Premier League: "We're happy that Ismaïla has decided to join Crystal Palace because he knows the Premier League from his time at Watford."
"He knows living in England, and he also had many games with Marseille last season. In every year, in every club where he was, he's showed that he can score goals. He showed it as well in the national team for Senegal, so we are really pleased that he will join our group."
Sarr shared his enthusiasm for the move: “I am very happy to be here because Crystal Palace is a great club. Thanks to the coach and the Sporting Director – they told me about their project, and I accepted because it is a good project. I am going to work hard on the pitch and off the pitch for the team and for the fans as well.”
