Cardiff City complete loan signing of Ivory Coast international Wilfried Kanga from Hertha BSC
Cardiff City have announced the loan signing of centre-forward Wilfried Kanga for the 2024/25 season. The Ivory Coast international joins from Hertha BSC and is expected to bolster the club's attacking options.
Last season, Kanga played in the Jupiler Pro League with Standard Liège, where he scored 12 goals and providing three assists.
Born in France, Kanga has represented both his birth country and Ivory Coast at U20 level. He has one senior cap from 2022 when the Ivory Coast recorded a 2-1 friendly win over Togo.
City manager Erol Bulut expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing, highlighting Kanga's versatility and work ethic.
"He has got a bit of everything as a forward. He works hard and can finish. He has a lot of quality," Bulut stated.
"We needed more in that position this season. We were excited by what he showed last term in Belgium and believe as coaches we can help him get even better. He knows what he must deliver as part of our team. We hope he can score and assist a lot of goals.”
Kanga shared his excitement about joining Cardiff City, expressing his eagerness to contribute to the team's success.
"I feel very happy to be here. I know all about Cardiff City already. We want to get this club back up the league," he said.
"I've enjoyed being in the stadium already. You can feel something special around it. I can't wait now to play in front of our fans. Let's do it!"
Wilfried Kanga is the third addition to Cardiff's men's First Team squad this summer, joining Chris Willock and Calum Chambers.
