Blackburn Rovers sign Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye
Blackburn Rovers have announced the acquisition of Senegalese striker Makhtar Gueye from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek.
The 26-year-old forward has signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, securing his stay at Ewood Park until June 2027.
Gueye began his career with French club Saint-Étienne, rising through their youth system. He made his debut for the first team in August 2018, scoring an equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg just minutes after coming on as a substitute.
He later enjoyed a successful loan spell at Ligue 2 side Nancy, netting seven goals in 24 appearances and contributing to the club's second-place finish.
In the summer of 2020, Gueye transferred to Belgian side KV Oostende, where he scored 25 goals in 71 matches. He also spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
A year ago, Gueye moved to newly-promoted RWD Molenbeek in the Belgian top flight, where he scored 11 goals in 32 league matches last season.
