Shrewsbury Town have announced two signings to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The club have secured striker Joshua Kayode on a season-long loan from Rotherham.

JJ, a Republic of Ireland under-21 international, becomes the tenth player to join Town this summer, following the arrivals of George Lloyd, Toto Nsiala, Harrison Biggins, Toby Savin, Tommi O'Reilly, Luca Hoole, and John Marquis. Additionally, Mal Benning and Aaron Pierre have renewed their contracts.

Manager Paul Hurst shared his enthusiasm for the new addition: "JJ is a versatile forward I've tracked for some time. He's had mixed success on loan, but after a strong pre-season with Rotherham, he’s eager to prove himself."

"JJ can play across the front line and brings speed, strength, and a keen eye for goal. His experience with Ireland under-21s shows his potential and ambition."

Shrewsbury Town have also signed goalkeeper Joe Young on a one-year contract.

The former England youth international impressed during a trial period with Salop.

Born in Shrewsbury, Joe joined Wolves at age eight and gained experience through loans at Runcorn Linnets, Matlock Town, Buxton, and AFC Telford. He is the second goalkeeper to join this summer, following Toby Savin.

Paul Hurst commented on Joe Young’s signing: "Joe has been training with us for a few weeks and has participated in our friendlies. He was highly regarded at Wolves and has represented England at various youth levels. Joe is a promising young goalkeeper, and we believe he can develop further under our guidance, particularly with the support of Brian Jensen."

Joe Young featured for the full second half in the friendly against Derby County on Saturday.
