Rotherham United have swiftly secured a contract with trialist Jack Holmes, following his performances in pre-season matches against Alfreton Town and Sheffield United.

Holmes, 22, initially caught the eye while playing for Stamford AFC in an earlier pre-season fixture against the Millers.

His display earned him an invitation to train with Rotherham's first team, extended by manager Steve Evans.

The club has acted promptly to sign the former Hereford United attacker, who was being monitored by other interested clubs.

Holmes has committed to a one-year deal with an option for an additional year in South Yorkshire.
