Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the signing of defender Declan Drysdale on a one-year contract, marking a homecoming for the Birkenhead-born player.

Drysdale, who began his career in Tranmere's youth academy, left the club in January 2019 to join Coventry City. He later moved to Newport County in 2022, where he accumulated two years of experience.

Now 24, and with 88 senior appearances to his name, Drysdale is set to enhance Nigel Adkins' defensive options.

"It was a no-brainer," Drysdale said about his return.

"When I got the call, I just wanted to get in and prove myself, show what I can do. Happily, it’s all done now and I can’t wait to get going again."

Manager Nigel Adkins praised Drysdale's performance during pre-season training and his involvement in three games so far.

"We are delighted that former Academy player Declan Drysdale has returned home to Tranmere Rovers to join our hard-working, ambitious squad," Adkins remarked.
