Northampton Town have bolstered their squad by securing a season-long loan for midfielder Matt Dibley-Dias from Premier League club Fulham.

The 20-year-old, who captained Fulham’s under-21 team to a Premier League Cup victory last season, has joined the Cobblers.

Dibley-Dias, who was awarded Fulham Academy Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season, has shown consistent form for the under-21 side.

His performances earned him a spot on Fulham’s first-team bench on multiple occasions.

Eligible to represent England, New Zealand, Portugal, and Brazil, Dibley-Dias has previously received a call-up to the New Zealand national squad. In September 2023, he extended his contract with Fulham.

Manager Jon Brady expressed his excitement about the new addition to Northampton Town’s roster.

"Matt is a player we are delighted to sign," Brady said.

"He has already made an impact at Fulham, being in and around their first-team squad. I know he is rated very highly."

Brady highlighted the competition for Dibley-Dias' signature.

"He had a choice of clubs this summer, with at least half a dozen interested. We are very pleased he has chosen to come to Northampton Town. We are grateful to Fulham for trusting us with another of their young players," he added.

Describing the midfielder’s qualities, Brady said, "Matt is good on the ball and has a good engine. He is an athletic player who can get around the pitch and handle the physical side of the game. We believe he will be a good fit for us and a valuable addition to our midfield."
