Danish International Jesper Lindstrøm moves to Everton on loan from Napoli
Everton have successfully acquired Danish international Jesper Lindstrøm on a loan deal from Napoli for the 2024/25 season, with an option to make the move permanent next summer.
Lindstrøm, an attacking midfielder, joins the Toffees as their fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jack Harrison. The 24-year-old, who can play across various positions in the front line, expressed his excitement about joining Everton.
"I feel very good. It’s amazing to represent Everton. This is a big club with a big history, a good stadium, and excellent facilities. I’m very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit," Lindstrøm told evertontv.
The Danish player revealed he had been aware of Everton's interest for some time. "England is very similar to Denmark, so I will feel at home quickly. The people have been very nice and very humble. I’m really looking forward to getting started."
Lindstrøm also spoke about his conversation with manager Sean Dyche. "It sounds as though he likes the way I play football and I can be a good fit for the team with my speed. I need that trust from the coach and my teammates. I’m ready to show them I can help."
The player described himself as "a fast player with good technique and a good shot," and he aims to add speed to Everton's counter-attacks. "I like to score goals, provide assists, and create chances. I hope I can do that here – I know I can do that here."
Born in Taastrup, Denmark, Lindstrøm started his professional career with Brøndby, making his senior debut at 18. After two impressive seasons, where he tallied 22 goal involvements in 41 Superliga appearances, he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021.
During his time in Germany, Lindstrøm became a key player, contributing 12 goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga. He also played a role in Eintracht Frankfurt's Europa League victory in 2022 and participated in their first-ever Champions League campaign, scoring against Marseille.
Napoli signed Lindstrøm in August 2023 after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League round of 16. The Danish player sees his experiences across different leagues and competitions as preparation for his time at Everton.
"I feel like all of the experiences I’ve had so far have readied me for this moment. I’ve played in a few different leagues now, I’ve played international football and in the Champions League and Europa League. I feel like I’m ready."
Everton manager Sean Dyche commented on Lindstrøm's versatility and eagerness. "Jesper is a player with very good ability who can operate in a number of different attacking roles. He joins us with a range of different experiences and is hungry to succeed with us."
