Derby County complete swoop for Ireland underage international Freddie Turley

English Championship outfit Derby County have completed the signing of Ireland underage international Freddie Turley.

Turley, 18, spent the first half of the 2024 League of Ireland season on loan with Bray Wanderers in the First Division from Shamrock Rovers.

And the midfielder impressed suitably at the Carlisle Grounds in his first steps into senior football to earn himself a move to Derby. 

Turley joined the Hoops in June 2021 having previously played for Bray Wanderers and St Joseph’s beforehand.

And while with the Hoops, Turley played at under-15, under-17 and under-19 level before joining Bray on loan. He made 22 league appearances for the Seagulls this season. 

During his time with Shamrock Rovers he played for Ireland at under-15, under-16, under-17 and under-19 level. He captained Ireland at the UEFA Under-17 Championship Finals in Hungary in 2023.

He has joined Derby on a three-year deal and will initially link up with the Rams’ Under-21 side, with a view to then forcing his way into the first-team set-up at Pride Park.
