League Preview: Bray Wanderers -v- Wexford

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray Wanderers will be seeking to put an end to a four-game winless streak when they host Wexford at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Seagulls are still fifth in the table but are now just two points clear of sixth-placed Wexford in the race for the final play-off position.

James Keddy’s side also have a game in hand on the Co Wicklow side.

But Bray can take plenty of positives from last weekend’s narrow 1-0 FAI Cup defeat to Shelbourne, having given the Premier Division leaders a scare at home.

Sean Boyd’s first-half strike was the difference between the sides, but the display of midfielder Guillermo Almirall was a major positive.

Defender Cole Omorehiomwan also had a late chance to force extra-time that went begging.

And they will be pleased that goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran and attacker Ben Feeney have returned to the fold following injuries.

However, Evan Osam, Jamie Duggan and Cristian Magerusan are likely to remain out.

WEXFORD

Wexford visit the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night looking to catapult themselves back into the playoff positions.

And they have been busy in the transfer market this week with goalkeeper Conor Walsh joining on loan from Sligo Rovers until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has made six Premier Division appearances for Sligo before going on loan to Finn Harps for the first half of this year where he featured another six times. He has represented Ireland at under-15, under-16, under-17 and under-19 level.

But crucially, Wexford have also confirmed the return of midfielder Conor Crowley from Longford Town.

The Dubliner originally joined at the start of the 2020 season and made 81 appearances for Wexford before leaving for Bray ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Referee: Declan Toland.

MATCH STATS

Wexford have the third best away record in the First Division season, claiming 16 points from 10 outings on the road already. But they have not won away from home in the league since April 27 when they beat Longford Town 2-1.

Bray Wanderers have picked up just four points from their last five league games - which is the joint-worst record in the First Division across that period.

Forward Mikie Rowe is one of Wexford’s most potent attacking players this season with 11 league goals to his name already. Peter Grogan and Cristian Magerusan are Bray’s joint-top scorers with six goals apiece.
