Everton have confirmed the signing of England international Melissa Lawley ahead of the upcoming Women’s Super League season.

The 30 year old joins the Toffees just a month after her Liverpool contract came to an end.

“I’m really excited for the next challenge in my career,” she said, speaking to the club’s website.

“I’ve spent five years in Merseyside and I’m excited to now be a Blue.

“I fell in love with the people, with the fans. Every time I played against Everton, the fans were amazing, even if they gave me a bit of stick!

“I’m excited to now be on their side and helping Everton to become successful.”

Lawley has played for a number of clubs including Arsenal, Bristol, Birmingham City, Manchester City and Liverpool.

She previously won the FA Cup while with Manchester City and the Women’s Championship while at Livepool.
