Leyton Orient have announced the signing of Zach Hemming on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough.

Hemming, 24, comes off an impressive season with St Mirren, where his 46 appearances helped the club achieve a fifth-place finish in the Scottish Premiership, their best result since 1985. This success also secured European football for St Mirren.

Hemming expressed his enthusiasm for joining Leyton Orient, stating, "I’m really pleased to sign for the club and can’t wait to start contributing to the team as much as I can. I really enjoyed my time in Scotland and now I want to come down here and show what I can do."

He is familiar with Sol Brynn from their time together at Middlesbrough.

"Sol had so many good things to say about the place. You can tell there is a really good group of lads at the club," Hemming added.

"I spoke to Sol about Roycey, too, and he said how good of a coach he is. I’m really excited to get going now."

Goalkeeping Coach Simon Royce highlighted the club's deliberate approach in selecting Hemming.

"We wanted to take our time with getting the right goalkeeper in. Zach was mentioned to me last season when we had Sol here, and I’ve kept a close eye on him since."

"He had a really good season last year at St Mirren, and also had a good spell at Kilmarnock before that. He’s 24 years-old and is a really good prospect. We’re delighted to get his signing over the line."

Hemming has spent the last three seasons in Scotland. Before his time at St Mirren, he played for Kilmarnock, making 39 appearances in his first season and helping them win the Scottish Championship.

His performances earned him the club’s Young Player of the Season award and a spot in the league's Team of the Season.
