Gillingham sign striker Marcus Wyllie from Enfield Town
Gillingham have finalised the signing of 25-year-old striker Marcus Wyllie from Enfield Town.
Wyllie, who played a role in Enfield Town's promotion to the National League South last season, netted 34 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.
Enfield's successful campaign saw them triumph over Wingate & Finchley in the play-off semi-finals, before clinching victory against Chatham Town in the final at Bauvill Stadium.
"I am really excited to be here; it all happened so quickly and I am still processing it," Wyllie commented.
"This is what I have always wanted, and I am delighted to finally get the chance to do it."
Kenny Jackett, Gillingham's Director of Football, emphasised the significance of the signing, stating, "This is a really significant signing for us. As a community club, we have a responsibility to scour the various leagues and recruit players who we believe have a bright future and can add depth to our squad."
Jackett added, "We have done our due diligence on Marcus. He is a strong, hardworking lad who had a prolific season with Enfield Town, and I have no doubt he is the type of player that Gillingham fans will enjoy watching."
Highlighting the club's recruitment strategy, Jackett said, "Our recruitment team are working very hard to spot talent in our region who have the capabilities to play at our level, and possibly even higher. We are giving players the opportunity to show what they can do and we will continue to work hard to add quality to our existing setup."
