The Republic of Ireland Women’s under 19 team have concluded their UEFA Women’s Under 19 European Championships campaign with a 2-0 loss to the Netherlands on Sunday.

Dave Connell’s side drew with Spain in their opening fixture and lost 2-1 against Germany in their group.

"We brought something different to the tournament. Three different kind of games in terms of our setup. But overall, the effort from the girls was sensational and I'm really, really proud of them all," Connell said, speaking to the FAI’s media team.

"We were unlucky, probably, in a few games. But overall, it was a great experience for the players, particularly the girls who were going to go over age, the 2005s.

"So, it was a pleasure being part of the journey with them. But overall, it was absolutely fabulous, really couldn’t have asked for more from the girls."

The semi-finals of the competition will take place on Wednesday, 24 July as England face Spain, while the Netherlands will take on France for a place in the final on Saturday, 27 July.
