Lincoln City have announced the signing of 22-year-old goalkeeper George Wickens, who joins on a four-year contract after developing his skills at Premier League side Fulham.

Wickens gained first-team experience through loan spells at National League club Wealdstone and Scottish Premiership team Ross County. He also earned an international cap with England’s U18 squad in 2019.

"I’m absolutely buzzing. Lincoln City feels like the right place for me at the next stage of my development," Wickens said.

"The track record of young goalkeepers the club have brought through in the past few years and how well they’ve done is impressive. The trust placed in them by the club is a massive confidence boost and helps get the best out of a player."

Head coach Michael Skubala praised Wickens, saying, "George has all the attributes we look for in a goalkeeper. He impressed us with his mentality and maturity during the recruitment process."

"We believe George has a bright future ahead and are excited to sign him despite interest from other clubs. His decision to leave Fulham to play regularly and develop as a No.1 goalkeeper shows his strong character."
