Liverpool's head coach Arne Slot expects a significant increase in the intensity of their pre-season preparations as the team heads to the United States next week. The Reds will engage in friendly matches against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United during their tour.

Slot, who is in his first pre-season with Liverpool, believes that facing high-calibre opponents and increasing the frequency of training sessions will enhance the squad's readiness for the upcoming season.

"The resistance of the teams we play is strong," said the Dutchman in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com.

"We are trying to implement our ideas and keep doing what we have done so well, with the primary aim of keeping the boys fit."

The tour kicks off on 27 July with a match against Real Betis at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Liverpool will then face Arsenal on 31 July at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, followed by a clash with Manchester United on 3 August at Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina.

Reflecting on the initial fortnight of pre-season, Slot noted the gradual progress his players have made.

"It's only two weeks in, and it takes time to fully implement all our ideas," he explained.

“Like I said, the ones who came in from the start, they are still fit now, they have had two weeks of training sessions and stayed fit during the game so are getting fitter and fitter.

“But yeah, there are definitely more than a few areas where we have to improve but that will come with more sessions and it will definitely come when all the boys are in.”

Slot's comments came after Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Preston North End in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the AXA Training Centre.
