Ange Postecoglou challenges Spurs to deliver consistently after QPR win
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou stressed the importance of delivering results in key moments following the team's 2-0 friendly win over QPR. He praised Yves Bissouma for his first goal with the club but emphasised that consistent performance is crucial.
Bissouma scored just before half-time, skillfully navigating past defenders and the goalkeeper. Speaking to SPURSPLAY, Postecoglou remarked, "It is only a friendly, so… I want to see him do it in a game. He’s capable of it, and that’s the challenge for all our guys. They have to produce when it counts."
The match featured chances for both teams, with Dane Scarlett securing the win in the final minutes by converting Mikey Moore's cross. Despite the victory, Postecoglou remained focused on the bigger picture.
"We’re looking to keep progressing our game, keep improving, trying to implement our principles," Postecoglou explained. "The boys have come back in good condition, and we aim to build on the foundation from last season."
Reflecting on the team's performance amidst a demanding schedule, he said, "It was okay, we’ve had a tough week with training, a game, and travel. We expected to be a bit leggy, but we still played some good football. We created some chances, though not as many as in our 5-1 win at Hearts earlier in the week. Overall, not too bad."
Postecoglou also addressed Lucas Bergvall's early exit from the match. "He’s just a bit sore. I don’t think it’s anything significant. For him and Archie, adapting to our training is new, and we need to look after them. But it doesn’t seem serious," he reassured.
Spurs' next pre-season match is against Vissel Kobe on the 27th of July in the National Stadium in Tokyo.
