Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag praised his team’s performance in their 2-0 pre-season win against Rangers at Murrayfield, Edinburgh. Goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill marked a successful outing for United in their summer friendlies.

Reflecting on the improved performance compared to their previous defeat against Rosenborg, Ten Hag told MUTV, "Pre-season is friendlies and I want to win every game. You want to grow and that is what we have seen today in comparison with Monday."

"Today was much better, especially in the prospect of aggressiveness. We were much more on the front foot and it was a team effort in both halves so, yeah, it was enjoyable to watch."

Diallo, the Ivorian winger, received special mention from Ten Hag.

"We have to see Amad in a different way. Of course, he’s still young but he is not inexperienced any more. This has to be the year. It’s great that he starts like this. Today he could play and he played a very good game," he said.

The manager also praised the contributions of young talents like Joe Hugill.

"Joe Hugill is different, that is a player, a young player, who we had much more today on the pitch. It was enjoyable to watch, I’m very happy; I’m pleased of course with some performances from some young players," said Ten Hag.

On the club’s proactive approach in the transfer market, Ten Hag remarked, "It is very good that we are also there on the front foot. We are highly ambitious and you have to be on the front foot and be ready for the season. The earlier you get your players in then you can work on your team."

Looking ahead, Ten Hag highlighted the preparation required before their upcoming match against Arsenal in Los Angeles.

"First, we have to make a very good training week – a hard training week. But yeah, then we will play against Arsenal, another step. Before that we have to work very hard for our fitness, for our game model, so we have a lot to do," he explained.
