The Hoops have added to their firepower upfront with the signing of striker Emily Corbet from Wexford FC.

“Moving to Shamrock Rovers represents an exciting new challenge for me,” said 20-year-old Corbet speaking to shamrockrovers.ie.

“I’m delighted to sign for such a great club and I’m eager to make a positive impact this season. I look forward to playing in Tallaght Stadium and taking advantage of the top-notch facilities to help the team achieve its goals.”

Hoops Head Coach Collie O’Neill said: “Emily is a player I have admired since I started at Rovers. She is a hardworking player who is good at making intelligent runs. Her strength, speed and finishing ability make her a nightmare for defenders. I’m confident that Emily will be a valuable addition to our team and will help bring our play to a new level.

Corbett began her career at Athlone Town making her Midlanders first team debut as a 17-year-old in 2021.

The following year she scored 23 goals in all competitions as she was named the League’s Player of the Year and featured in the SSE Airtricity League Team of the Year.

Athlone were runners up in the league and cup that year before she made the move to Ferrycarrig Park ahead of the 2023 season.

She scored five goals in 19 league appearances last year with Wexford and this season so far she made eight appearances in all competitions, five as a sub, and scored twice in the All-Island Cup.
