Quartet granted European licences
Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers, Sporting Fingal and Dundalk have all been given the green light to represent the Airtricity League in Europe this season after being awarded Uefa licences.
A Uefa delegate still has to confirm whether Dundalk can use Oriel Park for their home fixtures, but it is looking good for Ian Foster's side as the Independent Club Licensing Committee gave them the all-clear to compete in the Europa League qualifiers.
The Lilywhites will be joined by Shamrock Rovers and Sporting Fingal in that competition, while Bohemians will test their luck in the Champions League.
"The Independent Club Licensing Committee has awarded UEFA licences to four Airtricity League clubs for the 2010/11 UEFA Club Competition season," read a FAI statement.
"Bohemian FC will be entered in the Champions League with Shamrock Rovers, Dundalk FC and Sporting Fingal participating in the Europa League.
"All licences are awarded subject to the grounds meeting the criteria for a UEFA Category 2 stadium. As Oriel Park in Dundalk has not been used in UEFA competition since the new UEFA regulation came into force three years ago, a delegate from UEFA will visit Oriel Park in the coming weeks to determine its compliance."
