Wayside Celtic

Wayside Celtic host Wexford at Jackson Park on Sunday afternoon (kick-off is at 3.00pm).

In the first round, Wayside Celtic defeated Collinstown 2-1 after extra time. Goalless after 90 minutes, Darragh O’Connor broke the deadlock in the 102nd minute before Collinstown’s Ian McNeill equalised ten minutes late before a penalty in the 119th minute from Dylan O’Connor saw Ross Zambra’s men through to the next round.

The manager spoke with extratime.com’s Andrew Dempsey in an in depth interview which can be found here.

Speaking exclusively about the game he stated,

“Sunday is definitely a day for the club to look forward to.There's been so many days like this in the past and people in the club are telling me of the time they beat this team or they beat that team.”

“The chairman was telling me that they drew 2-2 away to Bohs in 2005 and brought them back to Bray for a replay at the Carlisle Grounds. Bohs won the replay but that's the sort of memories that we want to give to people. Wexford is going to be a very difficult game. It's going to be a great occasion for the club.”

“The volunteers will make it a great day for all the spectators, whether they're from Wexford or Wayside.

“From the players and the management point of view, we obviously want to win. We're never going to win the FAI Cup but we are really proud that we're in this round”

Wexford

First Division outfit Wexford will be hoping that they can reach the third-round of the FAI Cup when they head to Dublin on Sunday afternoon.

Sitting sixth in the First Division, the Ferrycarrig Park outfit are currently just two points off a play off place and suffered heartbreak in the FAI Cup last season, losing in the quarter finals to Cork City thanks to an injury time goal from Ruairí Keating.

Wexford manager James Keddy has experience of the host side as he spent time coaching the Dublin 18 outfit earlier in his career, while- as a player- his Bohemians side squeaked past Wayside in the 2005 edition of the FAI Cup.

This will be a first trip back to the capital for two recent Wexford FC arrivals- Lewis Temple and Divin Ismala arrived on loan from Shelbourne and Bohemians respectively - who both featured in the Slaneysiders’ last league outing.

That 3-0 home win over Cobh Ramblers saw Darragh Levingston net his first goal of the season. The 22 year old was the matchwinner the last time Wexford played in Dublin in the FAI Cup, his 42nd minute strike proving the difference as St Patrick’s CYFC were knocked out, while the previous round saw Avondale Utd beaten 3-0 in Ferrycarrig Park.
