Burnley sign experienced goalkeeper Václav Hladký
Burnley have announced the signing of veteran goalkeeper Václav Hladký on a two-year contract.
Hladký, who joins on a free transfer after his contract with Ipswich Town expired, becomes Burnley's fifth signing of the summer.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here and get all the paperwork done,” Hladký shared.
“I’ve heard a lot of things about Burnley. It’s got great history, an unbelievable fanbase, and I knew it was the place for me. I’m excited to get out and train today, I feel really well and I’m ready to get out there.”
Hladký, 33, began his football journey in his hometown of Brno, Czech Republic, with Zbrojovka Brno. He progressed through the academy ranks and made nearly 50 appearances for the first team before transferring to Slovan Liberec in 2015.
After four years in the Czech top flight, he moved to Scottish side St Mirren in 2019. His performances in the Scottish Premiership lead to a transfer to Salford City in 2020.
That season, Hladký won the EFL Trophy, secured the League Two Golden Glove, was named Salford City’s Player of the Season, and earned spots in the EFL and PFA League Two Team of the Year.
In 2021, he signed with Ipswich Town, where he played over 70 matches and achieved consecutive promotions, taking the club from League One to the Premier League.
