Six Spanish players named in EURO 2024 team of the tournament

After Sunday’s win for Spain in the European Championship final, UEFA have named six La Roja players in the team of the tournament.

Semi-finalists France had two players included, while runners-up England and beaten quarter-finalists Germany and Switzerland all have one player each in the team.

UEFA’s technical team went with a 4-3-3 formation:

Mike Maignan (France); Kyle Walker (England), Manuel Akanji (Switzerland), William Saliba (France), Marc Cucurella (Spain); Daniel Olmo (Spain), Rodri(Spain), Fabian Ruiz (Spain); Lamine Yamal (Spain), Jamal Musiala (Germany), Nico Williams (Spain) 

Spanish player Rodri was named player of the tournament while his teammate 17-year-old Lamine Yamal earned the young player award, while Kyle Walker was named in the team for the second tournament in a row.

UEFA’s technical observer team was made up of 12 former players and current/former coaches:

Aljoša Asanović (Croatia), Rafel Benítez (Spain), Frank de Boer (Netherlands),Packie Bonner (Republic of Ireland), Fabio Capello (Italy), Jean-François Domergue (France), Avram Grant (Israel), Aitor Karanka (Spain), Ioan Lupescu(Romania), David Moyes (Scotland), Michael O’Neill (Northern Ireland), Ole Gunnar Solskjær (Norway).
