Bohemians have announced the return of midfielder Dawson Devoy, signing him on a multi-year contract from MK Dons.

Devoy, 22, rejoins Dalymount Park, where he began his senior career. He is the sixth addition to Alan Reynolds' squad this July, following Ross Tierney, Leigh Kavanagh, Archie Meekison, Alex Greive, and Lee Smith.

Devoy's football journey started at Home Farm and St Kevin’s before he progressed through the Bohemians academy.

He was instrumental for the U19 team, especially in the UEFA Youth League, and made his first-team debut five years ago under Keith Long.

His breakout season came in 2021, where he featured in Bohemians' Europa Conference League campaign and helped the club reach the FAI Cup final for the first time in 13 years.

His impressive form earned him the July SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month Award and the 2021 PFA Ireland Young Player of the Year.

In 2022, Devoy moved to MK Dons. During his time in England, he played 70 games, including a loan spell at Swindon Town.

Manager Alan Reynolds expressed his excitement about Devoy's return.

"Bringing Dawson back to Bohs is a massive coup. Despite being only 22, he was one of the league's best midfielders when he left, and he’s even better now. Bohs fans know his potential and I'm looking forward to him lifting the team. We need players who can handle the pressure of playing at Dalymount Park, and Dawson brings that in spades."

Devoy shared his enthusiasm: "I’m absolutely buzzing to be back and can't wait to play for Bohs again. I want to be a part of getting the club back to where we belong. The plans from the manager, Stephen O’Donnell, and Derek Pender really excited me. The club isn’t where it should be, so we're all determined to help push the team forward."

Subject to international transfer clearance, Devoy could be included in the squad for Friday’s Sports Direct FAI Cup match against Shamrock Rovers. "For a first game back, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. If I get a chance to play, I’ll be looking to grasp it," he added.
