Troy Parrott completes permanent move to AZ Alkmaar
Republic of Ireland international Troy Parrott has secured a permanent move to AZ Alkmaar.
The striker has signed a five year deal with the Eredivisie side with the Dubliner moving from Tottenham Hotspur.
“Before I signed here, I heard a lot of good things about AZ and I spoke to Kenzo Goudmijn, among others, who I became friends with when I played with him,” Parrott said, speaking to the club’s website.
“I think AZ is the perfect club for me to take the next steps in my development. I will take the useful experience from last year with me.
“It helps me that I already played in the Netherlands last season and am therefore used to the competition and life here. In short, I am very happy to be here and can't wait to meet the supporters in the stadium.”
The move will see Parrott play in the Europa League group stages with AZ having finished in fourth place in last season’s Eredivisie campaign.
The 22 year old makes the move off the back of a successful season on loan in the Eredivisie with Excelsior where he scored 17 times in 32 appearances.
Parrott scored a hat trick as Excelsior sought to avoid relegation in the playoffs but it wasn’t enough and the side dropped to the Eerste Divisie after loss to NAC Breda.
