Ireland unveil Athletics squad for Paris 2024 Olympics

The Olympic Federation of Ireland has announced its athletics team for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Twenty-three athletes will represent Ireland in various track and field events at the Stade de France and marathon races through the city's iconic landmarks.
This selection brings Team Ireland's total number of athletes to 122, surpassing the previous record of 116 athletes at Tokyo 2020.
Marathon runner Fionnuala McCormack will make history as the first Irish woman to compete in five Olympic Games. She will run the marathon on 11 August.
First-time Olympian Sharlene Mawdsley, who will compete in the 400m and relay races, shared her excitement: “This is a dream come true. I can’t wait to represent my country on the biggest stage.”
Andrew Coscoran, a 1500m athlete heading into his second Olympics, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am honoured to represent Ireland again. Competing in Paris, so close to home, will be special with friends and family in the crowd.”
Gavin Noble, the Chef de Mission for Team Ireland, highlighted the significance of the athletics events.
“The athletics events are always highly anticipated. We have a strong team, with many athletes to watch. The Stade de France will be buzzing with energy.”
The athletics events at the Olympics will run from 1 August to 11 August.
