Drogheda United has added to their squad with the signing of goalkeeper Luke Dennison from Bohemians.

The 27-year-old American-born player brings experience from his 18-month stint at Bohemians, as well as a period at Longford Town, including a loan spell at Galway United.

Dennison, who trained with the San Jose Earthquakes MLS Academy before moving to Ireland post-college, expressed enthusiasm about joining Drogheda United.

"I spent the last year and a half at Bohemians, but I wasn't getting much game time. After speaking with Kevin [Doherty], and knowing Daire from Longford, it felt like the perfect fit," he said.

He added, "I'm here to push Andy [Wogan], Jethren [Barr], and myself. I also look forward to reconnecting with friends Aaron McNally and Matthew O’Brien."

Dennison is the fourth new addition to Kevin Doherty’s squad this transfer window, following the signings of Douglas James-Taylor, Elicha Ahui, and Shane Farrell.

Manager Kevin Doherty expressed his satisfaction with Dennison’s arrival, saying, "I’m delighted to have Luke in. He’s an excellent goalkeeper and will bring serious competition to the position."

Doherty also highlighted Dennison’s motivation and eagerness to compete as key factors in his recruitment.

"We needed to cover for Jethren’s injury, but the main reason Luke is here is to provide competition. Our young academy goalkeepers, like Finn Moore, Theo Hennessy, and Ryan Maher, are also benefiting from training with the first team," Doherty added.
