Dundalk have announced the signing of 22-year-old full-back Dan Pike.

Pike, who recently played for Tranmere Rovers, may debut in the upcoming Louth Derby against Drogheda United at Oriel Park.

Pike, a native of Formsby, Liverpool, developed through Blackburn Rovers' academy, where he played alongside Felix Goddard, Sam Durrant, and former Dundalk centre-back Louie Annesley.

He also gained first-team experience with AFC Fylde during three loan spells before joining Tranmere Rovers in August 2023, where he made 20 appearances last season, including 16 in League Two.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Pike said, “This is a really good opportunity for me to come to Ireland, play games, and try and enjoy my football again. I’m predominantly right-sided but can play left-back. I work hard and I’m good at one-on-one situations defensively. I’m looking forward to getting started."

Lilywhites manager Jon Daly praised Pike, highlighting him as a natural replacement for Archie Davies, who recently joined Carlisle United. “Dan is a natural right-back, but he can cover both sides,” Daly stated. “He has played at a good level and has been on my radar for some time. It's great to finally get him here, and I think he will be a valuable addition to the team."

Daly added, “It’s important that Dan hits the ground running. He knows he has big boots to fill, but it’s a challenge he is looking forward to.”

This is Daly's seventh signing of the window for Dundalk.
