Burton Albion signs Jack Armer and Billy Bodin, Josh Walker exits
Burton Albion has strengthened its squad with the signings of defender Jack Armer from Carlisle United and attacker Billy Bodin following the expiry of his Oxford United contract. Meanwhile, forward Josh Walker has departed for Southend United.
Jack Armer, 23, joins Burton on a two-year deal with an option for a third year.
The left-back made 43 appearances for Carlisle United in League One last season.
Armer began his career at Preston North End, turning professional in 2019, and later made 172 appearances for Carlisle.
“Once I heard about the interest from Burton, I have pushed to get it done ever since,” Armer said.
“I think there is endless opportunity here with the training facilities and the signings that have been made.”
Burton Albion manager Bendik Hareide expressed his enthusiasm for Armer’s arrival.
“He is a talented left-back with great potential and a strong defensive skill set,” Hareide said.
“We are excited to have him join our squad and look forward to seeing his contributions on the pitch.”
Billy Bodin, 32, has also joined the Brewers on a two-year deal. Bodin, who scored 17 goals in 89 league games for Oxford United, helped them secure promotion to the Championship last season.
“I’m really excited!” Bodin said.
“I still feel that I’ve got plenty to offer at League One level and hope that I can also add some experience to the squad to help benefit the younger players.”
Hareide praised Bodin’s experience and versatility. “His knowledge of the game and proven ability at these levels will help to strengthen our team,” he said.
On the other hand, Josh Walker has left Burton Albion to join Southend United for an undisclosed fee.
Walker, who signed for the Brewers in January 2023, made 35 appearances and scored three goals before spending the latter part of the 23/24 season on loan at Gillingham FC.
