West Ham secure signature of Wolves defender Maximilian Kilman
West Ham United have signed central defender Maximilian Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a seven-year contract.
The 27-year-old defender brings extensive Premier League experience to the Hammers, having made over 150 appearances for Wolves.
Kilman expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "It’s an amazing feeling to be a West Ham United player. As soon as I was aware of the interest from the Club, it was an opportunity I was keen to pursue."
During his time at Wolves, Kilman played under Julen Lopetegui, the new Hammers Head Coach, and was appointed team captain last year.
Kilman is looking forward to reuniting with Lopetegui, saying, "I really enjoyed working with Julen – he’s a top-class coach and someone I learned a lot from."
West Ham's Technical Director, Tim Steidten, expressed his satisfaction with the signing, noting, "We’re delighted to have secured Max’s signature – he was one of our top targets in the central defensive area in this transfer window. This is a serious and notable moment for West Ham United."
Kilman is eager to play in front of West Ham's passionate fans, stating, "Playing in front of a passionate fan-base, with 62,500 supporters packing out London Stadium every other week, is something I am incredibly excited about."
As Kilman prepares for the upcoming season, he remains confident about his future at West Ham under Lopetegui's management. "I am confident I will continue to improve as a player under his management here," he said.
