Fleetwood Town sign former Everton player Mackenzie Hunt
Fleetwood Town have confirmed the signing of Mackenzie Hunt, formerly of Everton, on a two-year deal. Hunt, who spent nine years at Everton, joins Fleetwood as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Hunt began his football journey at Everton’s Academy at the age of six. He was regularly involved with Everton's first team squad last season, making the bench 20 times under manager Sean Dyche. Hunt signed a three-year professional contract with Everton in June 2019.
The 22-year-old midfielder participated in all three games of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last season, facing Doncaster, Burton, and Mansfield Town. He was also a part of the Everton Under-18 team that finished third in the U18 Premier League (North) in 2018/19 and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
Reflecting on his time at Everton, Hunt said, "Really good time at Everton, really good season last season with the first team, trained with them every day and it was a big learning experience learning off some of the best players in the league."
Looking ahead, Hunt expressed his excitement about joining Fleetwood, saying, "The next step in my career is to start playing some proper football and I think Fleetwood is the right place to do that."
Hunt will wear the number 16 shirt for Fleetwood in the 2024/25 season.
