League Preview: Waterford -v- St Patrick’s Athletic

WATERFORD

High-flying Waterford will be looking to maintain their strong form when they host St Patrick’s Athletic at the RSC on Thursday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Blues defeated Dundalk last weekend and currently sit in third place - three points clear of reigning champions Shamrock Rovers in fourth.

And they have been boosted in the first few days of the transfer market reopening with Kyle White joining from Fleetwood Town.

Striker Sam Bellis has also joined the club from Barrow, with teenager Calum Costello signing his first professional deal after coming through the club’s underage ranks.

But they remain without injured pair Barry Baggley and Maleeace Asamoah through injury.

ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC

St Pat’s boss Stephen Kenny is hoping his side can rise to the challenge when they visit the South-East on Thursday evening.

The Saints were held to a scoreless draw against Bohemians at home last weekend but have added Kazeem Al-Amin and Joseph Anang to their squad ahead of their trip to Waterford.

“We're looking forward to going to Waterford. They've had their best season in many years and Keith Long has done a fantastic job there,” Kenny said.

“They've got promoted and pushed right up the table. It's a game that we'll have to earn the right to win.

“We've only conceded one goal in our last three games and we had such a strong finish against Bohemians but we couldn't quite get the winner that we really wanted.

“We'll have to be at our best to get a result.”

Referee: Rob Hennessy.
