Wolves have confirmed the signing of highly-rated Brazilian defender Pedro Lima from Sport Club do Recife and Norwegian international striker Jorgen Strand Larsen from Celta Vigo, bolstering Gary O’Neil’s squad ahead of the new season.

Pedro Lima, who turned 18 on Monday, joins Wolves on a five-year deal, with an option for an additional year.

The right-back arrives after a successful stint at Sport Recife, where he made 26 appearances in his debut senior season. Lima has also represented Brazil's under-17 team, playing in last year’s FIFA U17 World Cup and helping his team to a victory against England.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs expressed his enthusiasm about Lima’s arrival. “I’m really happy we’ve been able to add Pedro to the first-team squad. There was lots of competition for him, but we’ve been working on bringing him to Wolves for a while now, and he’s fully invested in our project. He has a massive desire to be the best player he can be and we’re going to help him meet his goals.”

Lima's signing follows the permanent acquisition of Tommy Doyle from Manchester City, as well as the arrivals of Portuguese winger Rodrigo Gomes and Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Strand Larsen joins Wolves on a season-long loan deal from Celta Vigo, which will become permanent until 2029 should certain clauses be triggered.

The 24-year-old forward, standing at 6ft 4in, comes off an impressive season in La Liga where he finished as Celta’s leading scorer with 13 goals.

The Norwegian international, capped 14 times, began his career in his home country with Sarpsborg 08 and had a loan spell with AC Milan before moving to Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he netted 17 goals in the 2021/22 season.

Matt Hobbs highlighted the importance of Strand Larsen’s signing. “Everyone knows that bringing in a number nine was really important to us this summer, and Jorgen was our number one target for the position, so we are really pleased to have signed him. He’s shown that he can score goals and puts a lot of work and running in for the rest of the team. We talk a lot about humility at this football club, and he fits that perfectly.”
