Wrexham AFC have confirmed the transfer of defender Lewis Brunt from Leicester City. Brunt has signed a contract with Wrexham until 2027.

The 23-year-old defender has Premier League experience with Leicester City and spent last season on loan with Mansfield Town, where he played a role in their promotion campaign.

Brunt, born in Birmingham, expressed his excitement about joining Wrexham.

"I’m over the moon to get the deal signed and over the line and I can’t wait to get going," he said.

"Everyone knows the story behind Wrexham, it’s a club with a great history and big ambitions for where it wants to go, so to join that journey is a good feeling."

Brunt started his football career at Aston Villa, signing his first professional contract in 2018.

In 2021, he moved to Leicester City, where he made his first-team debut in the Emirates FA Cup against Watford and later appeared in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur.

His performances earned him the Men’s Development Squad Player of the Year award and a three-year contract extension.

During his loan spell at Mansfield Town last season, Brunt made 34 appearances as the team achieved automatic promotion by finishing third in Sky Bet League Two.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised the new signing, saying, "Lewis will be a very good signing for us and he’s a very good young player. He did exceptionally well in his first full season at Mansfield and he will be a player that has a lot of development in him. I believe that he will be a great acquisition for us."
