Tottenham Hotspur sign Archie Gray from Leeds United
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United. The 18-year-old has signed a contract that will run until 2030 and will wear the number 14 shirt.
Archie Gray, born in Durham, joined Leeds United at Under-9 level. He first got involved with the first team in 2021 at the age of 15, being part of their matchday squad in the Premier League.
After winning promotion with Leeds' Under-21s in the 2022/23 season, Gray made his senior debut in the 2023/24 EFL Championship, making 52 appearances in all competitions and helping Leeds reach the play-off final. His performances earned him the Championship Young Player of the Season award.
Gray expressed his excitement about joining Spurs, saying, "Really excited, obviously it's a massive club and an opportunity I couldn't really turn down. I'm just really excited to play. It still hasn't really sunk in, to be honest."
He added, "When Spurs came and I had the opportunity to play in the Champions League eventually and the Europa League this year, I couldn't really say no."
Gray also mentioned his admiration for Spurs' manager, Ange Postecoglou, "I'm not going to lie, I'm a massive Celtic fan, so I love him [Ange Postecoglou], my whole family loves him. He's also a massive factor because playing under a really good manager is really important for me as well. I've still got loads to learn."
Archie Gray comes from a footballing dynasty at Leeds, with his father Andy, grandfather Frank, and great uncle Eddie all having played for the club. On the international stage, he has represented England at various youth levels and made his first appearances for the Under-21s earlier this year, scoring on his debut against Azerbaijan.
