Higgins overjoyed with winning goal
Ruaidhri Higgins scored his first ever goal for Bohemians on Monday night – a 90th minute winner that could prove to be a crucial goal in the Gypsies' season.
Speaking to Extratime after Monday night's last-gasp winner, Higgins was clearly overjoyed with the goal.
"Yeah, ecstatic is the word I would use but I'm delighted with the three points more than anything," Higgins told Extratime.
"I'm delighted to get off the mark at my new club and I have to give my house mate [Raffaele Cretaro] a lot of credit for a great cross, he put it straight on my head."
The win sees Bohs shoot into fourth place, just six points behind leaders Dundalk with a game in hand and things are starting to look up after a poor run of form.
"It's seven points from nine now. I think we've been unfortunate in a lot of games, we've dominated a lot of games but lacked that cutting edge. Hopefully we can kick on from here,” insisted the ex-Derry City man.
Pat Fenlon's men have found it difficult to break teams down at home and Monday night was no exception with Higgins' goal coming in the 90th minute.
"When teams come to Dalymount they park the bus, as people say. It's frustrating and it's hard to break teams down like you saw tonight it took till the 90th minute, but I'm just glad we're back on track,” he explained.
Next up for Bohs is a trip to The Showgrounds to take on Paul Cook's Sligo Rovers, a game which the champions never seem to find easy.
"It's a very hard place to go and they've got a lot of good players there but hopefully this win kick starts us now and we can go and get the three points," he said.
