Chelsea have announced the signing of striker Marc Guiu from FC Barcelona.

The 18-year-old Spaniard has agreed to a five-year deal with the option of an additional year and will join his new teammates for pre-season.

"It's an immense joy to sign for Chelsea, and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited," said Guiu.

"Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League. Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea, and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club."

Guiu, a product of Barcelona’s academy, made his first-team debut last season.

He featured in a pre-season match against Vissel Kobe and later made his La Liga debut against Athletic Club, scoring the winning goal within a minute of coming on.

The young striker also scored his first UEFA Champions League goal against Royal Antwerp and represented Spain at the Under-19 level, following his top-scoring performance at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Speaking about his move to Chelsea, Guiu said, "The stature of the club – they’re a big club with a lot of history, and that’s something that definitely caught my eye. I want to adapt to my surroundings, win the Champions League and the Premier League, and become the best centre forward in the world."

"I would say my strength is goal-scoring, but I'm a humble guy and selfless. I like to give my all for my teammates. I also like to train so that I'm improving every day," Guiu said.

"I'm good at taking the ball up, holding possession, giving space, and of course, scoring goals."

Guiu becomes Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian, and Omari Kellyman
