Nottingham Forest secure Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United on long-term deal
Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of midfielder Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United on a five-year deal, securing his stay at the club until the summer of 2029.
Anderson, who joined Newcastle at the age of eight, made 55 appearances for the Magpies, including 44 in the Premier League.
"I’m buzzing. I think it’s a massive club with big history and I can’t wait to get started," Anderson said.
"It’s a great place to display what I can do and go onto try and help my career."
Anderson made his Premier League debut for Newcastle against Arsenal in January 2021. His first loan move to Bristol Rovers saw him score eight goals and provide five assists in 21 games, helping the club win promotion from Sky Bet League Two.
He made 27 first-team appearances in the 2022/23 season for Newcastle United and 26 appearances in the 2023/24 season, making his Champions League debut against AC Milan.
Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson expressed his excitement about the signing. "We are all delighted to welcome Elliot to Nottingham Forest and pleased that he has chosen to continue to develop his talent with us in the Premier League," Wilson said.
"We are sure he will thrive in a Forest shirt, as other players in his age profile have done."
Anderson is enthusiastic about his new chapter at Nottingham Forest. "It’s a great opportunity. It’s a fresh start so I want to attack it and show everyone what ability I’ve got," he said.
"I’ve always been very fond of Nottingham Forest and I think it’s a great place to display what I can do."
Reflecting on his previous experience at The City Ground, Anderson noted, "It was brilliant. I was speaking to my parents after the game and my Dad said that it’s probably one of the best grounds he’s been to in terms of atmosphere. I came on in the game and it felt great to play here."
Describing himself as an attacking threat, Anderson said, "I’m an attacking threat who likes to create goals. I haven’t got too many yet, but I can see myself getting many for Forest. I just like to create chances."
Looking ahead, Anderson is eager to contribute to the team's success. "Personally, I want to go out there and do as well as I can and help the team. For the team, I just want to finish as high as possible and get up that table."
