Dundalk have moved to add creativity to midfield with the signing of Jad Hakiki from Shelbourne on a deal until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old made his first-team breakthrough at Tolka Park in 2022 but has been restricted to just 38 appearances over three years due to persistent injuries.

And he will attempt to rekindle his career as he becomes Lilywhites boss Jon Daly’s fifth signing of the off-season after Scott McGill, Norman Garbett, Hayden Cann and Bobby Faulkner.

When Jon Daly spoke to me, I was keen to come here straight away,” Hakiki told the club’s official website.

“He told me how he sees me playing here, which I liked, and since he’s come in at Dundalk, results have been going well and things are moving forward and I want to be a part of that.

“I feel that this is a chance for me to improve myself and play regularly and that’s what I want to do at Dundalk.

“I hope I can entertain the fans here. That’s the sort of player I am, I want to create chances and score goals and provide assists and, hopefully, the fans take a liking to me.”
