Chelsea sign young midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa

Chelsea has officially signed 18-year-old midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa on a six-year contract, with an option for an additional year. Kellyman is set to join Chelsea for pre-season training next month.

Expressing his excitement, Kellyman said, “It is fantastic to be standing here as a Chelsea player. It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join. It is a dream come true for sure. I’m buzzing to have put on the shirt and can’t wait to get started.”

Starting his career at Derby County, where he spent ten years, Kellyman moved to Aston Villa in 2022.

He quickly made his presence felt, earning a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month and participating in Villa's pre-season tour in the United States.

Kellyman made his first-team debut in a Europa Conference League victory over Hibernian in August 2023 and has since made several more appearances. 

In a reverse move, Ian Maatsen recently moves from Chelsea to Aston Villa.
