West Ham secures experienced goalkeeper Wes Foderingham on a two-year deal
West Ham United have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Wes Foderingham on a free transfer, set to join the club on 1 July after his contract with Sheffield United expires.
The 33-year-old brings extensive experience to the Hammers, having made 30 Premier League appearances last season.
Foderingham, who has won trophies with both Rangers and Swindon Town and boasts nearly 500 senior matches, expressed his enthusiasm about joining West Ham.
"It feels brilliant to be a Hammer!" he said. "As soon as I heard of the interest, it was something that I was keen to get sorted. I'm just delighted to be here."
He also highlighted the passionate West Ham fanbase.
"They're a fanbase that care deeply about their football club," Foderingham noted, adding that it's "always better to play for a team where you have those supporters cheering you on week in, week out."
Technical director Tim Steidten also shared his satisfaction with the signing. "We’re really pleased to add a goalkeeper of Wes’ experience to our first team goalkeeping unit," Steidten stated. He emphasized Foderingham's recent Premier League experience as a valuable asset that will enhance the team's goalkeeping strength.
Foderingham is the second signing since Lopetegui took over as manager, and he is expected to provide strong support and competition to fellow goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Łukasz Fabiański, under the guidance of goalkeeper coach Xavi Valero.
The Hammers previously signed Brazilian Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras on a five-year deal.
