Swindon Town have announced the signing of defender Will Wright on a permanent deal.

Will Wright, a 27-year-old defender, began his career in non-league football before moving to Colchester United in 2018.

He then played for Dagenham & Redbridge, where he made over 150 appearances.

Wright returned to the EFL with Gillingham in June 2022, making nearly 50 appearances.

Most recently, Wright had an impressive campaign with Crawley Town, helping them secure promotion to League One. He played 45 regular season fixtures, featured in the play-off semi-finals and final, and finished the season with four goals and nine assists from central defence.

Commenting on his move to Swindon, Wright said, "I'm buzzing, now it's all done and all real. I'm ready to get going and get my teeth into pre-season. The club speaks for itself and it's such a big club at this level, and even at the league above as well."

Head of Football Jamie Russell expressed his delight at Wright's signing, saying, "We are delighted that Will has joined us from now-League One Crawley, as there was a lot of competition for Will's signature. He not only offers defensive solidity with a promotion-winning mindset, but also he is a threat when attacking too."

Wright becomes Swindon Town's fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
