Burton Albion capture signing of Chelsea Academy graduate

Burton Albion have announced the signing of Charlie Webster from Chelsea.

The midfielder joins the Brewers on a three year deal having come through the Chelsea Academy where he began his career at under 10 level.

"I think it's a great time to be a Brewer. There's a lot happening at the club and I'm very excited to be a part of it,” the 20 year old said, speaking to the club’s website.

"I always want to play at the level I know I can play at. Regular men's football is something I'm always aspiring to play and this is a really good stage for me to go and show what I can do.

"When I knew Mark Robinson was going to become Head Coach here it was a big thing for me. At Chelsea we had a great relationship. He's a guy who has really strong morals and values and really cares about his players which I think is the most important thing."

Webster progressed through the Chelsea Academy and appeared on the bench for the first team in 2021 as well as being an important part of the Blues development squad.

The midfielder also spent last season on loan in the Eredivisie with Heerenveen where he made 13 appearances and got a taste of senior football.
