Limerick -v- Shelbourne

With both teams loitering around those playoff spots, the Monday night clash of Limerick and Shelbourne on Shannonside promises to be an entertaining affair (kick-off 7.45pm).

Two contrasting results last weekend saw the Reds demolish Mervue in Dublin while Limerick lost out to a stubborn Monaghan side in Gortakeegan.

In terms of previous encounters, they tend to be lively encounters, with Shels always doing well in Limerick. One can’t help remember the last day drama in 2008 when Limerick denied Shelbourne promotion in Drumcondra.

In Shelbourne team new, playmakers David Cassidy and Eric Foley are ruled out due to similar injuries. Cassidy picked up that re-occurring hamstring injury which saw him miss out earlier on in the campaign. However, Paul Shiels returns from suspension.

On the defensive side of things, Michael Coburn remains absent from the back line, but Shels will be boosted by the return of Ian Ryan who has recovered from a stomach bug.

Limerick will be without the services of front-man Shane Clarke whose injury was extremely ill-timed as the Limerick native had bagged three goals in two games for Pat Scully’s side.

Conor Molan is also out long term for Limerick, the loss of his influence and experience has been greatly felt by the Limerick back four in previous weeks.
