Cheltenham have announced the signing of wing-back Ryan Haynes, who recently left Northampton Town.

The 28-year-old rejoins manager Michael Flynn, having previously worked together at Newport County.

Haynes, who began his career with Coventry City, has enjoyed a career across Leagues One and Two, and was a key player in Coventry's 2016/17 EFL Trophy victory.

His experience includes stints at Newport and Northampton, where he made 28 appearances in their recent promotion season.

Discussing his move, Haynes expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with Flynn and his ambitions with Cheltenham.

"I’m delighted to get it done. When I first heard about the move it was one I really wanted to pursue and now I’m looking forward to getting going," he stated. Haynes added, "I really enjoyed my time at Northampton but sometimes you have to move on. I’m here now and I’m looking forward to working with gaffer again and the staff."

He is optimistic about the club's prospects, highlighting their ambitions: "The message is very clear. We’d like to be challenging at the top end of the table and that’s why I’m here.”

Haynes is the third summer signing for Cheltenham, following Harry Pell and Scot Bennett, both of whom he knows from his time in South Wales.
