Quigley: Not good enough from Gypsies

After Bohemians played out a scoreless draw with UCD on Friday night, striker Mark Quigley emerged from the home dressing room looking like a man whose luck had certainly deserted him.

Quigley hasn't found the form that he had in previous years with St Patrick's Athletic and is finding it hard in a Bohs team that are struggling for goals, and more importantly three points.

"We've dropped two points at home, and no disrespect to UCD, they played well, but these are games we should be winning. We seem to be struggling at home and I don't know what it is," Quigley told Extratime after Friday night's encounter.

Quigley is normally accustomed to playing up front, but that hasn't been the case this year and the 24-year-old has often found himself on the wing - something he says he is enjoying despite its unfamiliarity.

"I'm glad to be back in the team so I'll play anywhere. I actually don't really mind it out on the left-wing. I'm obviously a striker but I'm enjoying it out there," he insisted.

The Gypsies are struggling to score goals this season and Quigley himself is yet to score since signing for the League champions, something which he admits is playing on his mind.

"It is a little bit, it just wont seem to go in for me. I thought I should have been off the mark a while ago with the chances I've had, but they've just not gone in for me," he said.

"It's very frustrating. I had two good chances tonight, I hit the post and the keeper made a very good save.

"A goal would give me the confidence I need. I think if the first goal goes in it will be a weight off my shoulders and hopefully I can kick on from there."

Pat Fenlon's men have just four wins from 10 league games and are six points off the summit of the table. With many around Dalymount Park starting to get worried, Quigley knows things must improve.

"No it hasn't been good enough for a team that's won the league two years in a row. We're looking to win everything this season and we'll be looking for our first trophy in two weeks," he stated.

"To win an All-Ireland trophy [Setanta Sports Cup] and to have a trophy so early in the season would be a massive boost."
