League Preview: Derry City -v- Galway United

DERRY CITY

Derry City host Galway United on Friday as they bid to move top of the Premier Division table (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Ruaidhri Higgins’ side are just two points behind leaders Shelbourne but have won just one of their last four games.

And they have been boosted with the news that Cameron Dummigan has penned a new deal this week.

“It was an easy enough decision for me. I’m enjoying my time here and we have a really good group of people at the club,” Dummigan .

“Ruaidhri and Paul (Hegarty) are looking to bring success and I want to be part of that.

“The injury came at a bad time, but hopefully it’s behind me now and I’m looking forward to a busy second half of the season.”

GALWAY UNITED

Galway United boss John Caulfield is ready for his side’s tie against Derry City on Friday night.

But the former Cork City chief admits it is a daunting one for his Tribesmen.

“We’re halfway through the season and we know that Derry City are one of the title contenders,” he said.

“They have the firepower to win the league if they get a few wins together.

“They beat Waterford 3-0 the other night and they’ve been really impressive.”

Referee: Eoghan O’Shea.
